Thought I’d share how Anna’s reading is going! She’s just doing AWESOME with the book (link to book will be in my sidebar soon) and is almost done. My goal is to have her completely finished with it by her birthday next month. Here is what she read yesterday. It’s actually part 2 of a story she has read earlier in the book.
The Gold Cat and the Black Cat
A girl had a cat that talked. Her cat was big and black. she loved her cat, but when it was time to sleep, the cat talked and talked and talked. The girl said, “I must get some sleep.”
Then she said, “I will get a cat that can not talk. When my black cat is having fun with the other cat, my black cat will not talk, talk, talk.”
So the girl got a cat. This cat ws little and gold. She said to the little gold cat, “When my black cat meets you, she will like you.”
The black cat did like the gold cat. They ran and they jumped. They bit socks and bit cat tails. Then they sat, but the black cat did not stop talking.
The black cat said to the other cat, “How are things going with you?”
But the gold cat did not talk back. The gold cat started to sing. And that cat did not stop singing.
So now the girl has 2 cats that do not let her sleep. She has a cat that talks, talks, talks and she has a cat that sings, sings, sings.
The End.
And here are some photos of Anna’s new double-layer pillowcase dress that I made yesterday. SO CUTE!!! A bit too poofy (should have used lighter fabrics) but still really cute. :) It fits Lindsey too! :) Anna calls it her Tinkerbell dress.

That dress is adorable! You are certainly talented. :)
awwwwh! i love the new dress! i dont think it looks too “poofy” at all! :)
Thank you! I figured out why it looks so poofy… I took “pillowcase” style too literally and when I measured/cut the fabric, I based the measurements on an ACTUAL pillowcase… which is WAY too wide for a child 4-7 years old! I should have made my cut about 6 inches narrower so it would gather less in the center. So it’s not only 6 inches too wide, but 6 inches too wide on TWO layers. I know it doesn’t look overly poofy in the photos, but it does in person. The only way to fix the poofiness now would be to take in three inches on each side… but that much would cut way into the arm holes so I’d basically have to re-do the entire dress with new armholes and everything. LOL So not willing to do that! LOL LOL LOL
But thanks for the compliments! I absolutely love the style!!!
Oh my, how beautiful. The dress is pretty too. ;) Is there a pattern to this dress? I would love to make on for my little girl. I am constantly making her little things, but never saw a dress this beautiful. :) If you don’t mind sharing the pattern I would be one happy lady. :)
Hi Heather and thank you for the compliments! I actually didn’t use a pattern for this dress. I just made it up as I went after seeing one similar in a catalog. I can’t even tell you what catalog it was! It was basically a double-layer pillowcase dress that ties in the back rather than at the shoulders! Hope that helps!
I love the pillowcase dresses and most especially your green double layered dress! I also really like that it ties in the back! I found your blog by googleing pillowcase dresses and selecting “images”, then I just scrolled down and clicked those I liked best.
I must try this for my nieces birthdays!
